1) Take the ignition control module off and have it tested at Autozone, etc. Have them test it several times in a row to get it warm so it will fail if it's weak. Replace if needed.

2) Clear the codes and see if the res. pulses code comes back. If it does, you may need an opti...

Did you replace the harness piece that connects the opti to the main harness?

Are you using the stock coil? Was the DTC code 42?

Believe he's OBD2, based on his user name. 1351 or 1361 for the ICM code, either 0323, 0372 or 1371 for the distributor pulse code. OP, what are your exact codes?

ok, unplug that harness piece and clean it out, make sure there's no coolant in the connector on the body of the distributor as well. See if you've got any corrosion, etc on either end of that harness piece. Look at the end on the pass. side of the intake as well. It clips onto the EVAP purge solenoid bracket; gray flat 4 pin connector. If it looks dirty or corroded you can clean it to some degree, but a replacement would be smarter. If you just got it wet, clean it off and let it dry and it should be ok.

Don't forget to clear the codes and test again...
