Default Help help help!!!!!!

Ok you chevy guys,

I need some help here. I've got a 93 T-Topped Trans Am with a 6-speed.
The other day I was driver down the road, not getting into it or anything, just normal driver and out of the blue it felt as if I lost a cylinder(it did lose one for no reason that I know of). I changed plugs, didn't cure it, changed wires, didn't cure it. Already put a new distributor, coil, altinator on her. Last night I went out to go somewhere and tried to start it and nothing, not so much as a click in the starter. I tried to push start it and it fired but to keep it running you had to pump the gas pedal like a madman, as soon as you stopped pumping the gas pedal it would stop. It's got me stumped, anybody got any ideas as to what it might be? I NEED HELP!!! I so used to real Pontiac engines guys, I got one to put into it but I'm not even close to doing that yet, (money part that is lol)!!
I'd appriciate any ideas as to what it might be guys Thank You
Ron

I would suspect the fuel system instead of continuing to throwing parts at it. Get a fuel pressure test gauge for fuel injected engines and see what your fuel pressure is. A mis-fire, hard start, etc., can be caused by a failing fuel pump, bad fuel pressure regulator, etc. Get the gauge and go from there. You should have around 43.5psi with the key on, engine off, and it should hold steady without the pump running.

Check fuel pressure, check fir vac leaks, any service engine light? Visually remove and check sensor plugs for damage

Absolutely sounds like a classic fuel pump issue. How did your tests come out?

My 2002 6 speed had a problem like yours. Turned out the accordion fuel line in the tank split. It would run IF I could keep the manifold vacuum high. If I opened the throttle it would just die. What reminded me of it was your "pumping" the gas pedal to keep it running. Mine was exactly like that. Replaced the hose and it's fine now. Left out all the fun stuff like dropping the rear axle and exhaust system

Same thing happened to a friend of mine, fuel line was shot. However, when it happened to me, it was the fuel pump.

some time simple fix just by changing the fuel filter. Do wat every body say, test the fuel pressure, sound like fuel pump to me also, if u change the fuel pump, change the fuel filter too.

I would say possible clogged fuel filter or fuel pump went out.Go ahead and change filter first,Its easy and needs to prob. be done anyways. You could also get someone to turn key on without starting and lay under gas tank to see if you can hear the fuel pump buzz.If you have a fuel pressure gauge handy hook it up and see what you get.GL

I should have mentioned the filter. They usually go hand in hand so I didn't think to mention it. My bad.

Thanks to all of you guys!!! Fuel pump is bad and as soon as I get that replaced I can see why I'm running on only 7 cylinders!!! I plan on doing a engine swap next year but it probably **** of a lot of people though. I'm gonna go back to a pontiac v8 IA 540 engine. I never had these kind of problems out of any of my pontiac V8's Don't get me wrong the LT1's and LS engines are awsome engines buta pontiac engine done right is very hard to beat!!!
Again Thank You All!!!!!!
