Default What did I break?

I was pulling the exhaust manifold and broke off this sensor with the wrench. As you can see from the pictures, it is right above the oil filter.

The third picture is the wiring showing the line that went to it was covered in a heat protection I assume. I included this picture just in case anyone needed to see it.

I think that it's the oil pressure sensor, but I'm not sure. If anyone could tell me what sensor this is, I would really appreciate it.

I am just about sure it is the oil pressure sensor; but not 100% as I have a 1997 with the sensor the top of the block.

Yup pure 1, it's good stuff.

I had read that the oil pressure sensor was on top of the block as well so that's why I'm not exactly sure.

its the oil pressure sensor, 93's and some 94's had it above the oil filter, mid 94 they were swapped to the rear of the china wall.

The location of yours is where i have my oil pressure gauge plugged in

The grime will be cleaned another day. Just don't have the time right now.

Thanks for the help with the sensor, I guess my haynes book decided to leave that fact out.

yeah its really easy to break those sensors... very brittle plastic. You can relocate it to the top of the block wall, might be a beeotch getting to it under the 4thgen cowl.

I couldn't find a replacement when i broke mine and that spot is the biggest bitch to work at when in the car. So i just got an aftermarket one and moved it behind the intake manifold. Just use a 90 fitting it works good. then use a plug to plug that hole once you get the rest of the pieces out, if you want to change that.
