well the block would bolt up as long as its a lt1 block (Gen 1 should bolt up also, but there are other issues with that)

not sure if that answers your question as its kinda vague and unclear

I suggest you do a search on this forum for "383" before you do anything else.

If you buy a complete 383 shortblock (machined and assembled), it will bolt right in place where the old 350 was.
My guess is that you will want a larger cam and better heads to compliment it though.
The increase in displacement alone isn't worth a whole lot.
You'll also need a tune.

Now if we're talking about a long-block, yeah .. bolt it up and tune it.

Research is a good thing ... buying a new motor isn't a cheap project.
Expect to spend a minimum of 5-10k on the project if it's done right.

You could run a 383 on stock heads/cam, but don't expect any HP increase. In fact I'd be willing to bet you'd LOSE some.

Nothing wrong with that at all, just don't expect it to be any faster than what you have now.
You could also consider a 355 bottom end.

In the end, it's not just about cubes, it's about the entire package.
