WTF is wrong with my lt1?

Angry WTF is wrong with my lt1?

ok. so i know i am going to sound like an idiot, but idc. i just bought a new battery last summer for my trans am. well the past 3 days, the battery dies over night. i dont leave any lights on in my car, it just runs out of juice over night. do you think my battery is junk already? or is there a problem with my car?????

Any aftermarket accessories you're leaving on causing a draw? Obviously you've got something left on or something is drawing with the ignition off. If you're handy with a multimeter you should be able to find it by pulling fuses.

the battery is from napa auto parts. it was the cheapest side post.

To test for a parasidic (spelling???) loss, with the key OFF remove one fuse and then measure the amperage across the terminals - it should be less than 40 mAmps (0.040 Amps) - repeat with every / all fuses. Once you find the fuse that is "leaking" you'll know which system is at issue.

If nothing else run it down to the parts store and have them test the battery and the alternator, I've had batteries do the same thing your describing.

i just had that issue. my alt was good and even my battery was testing good. but...it was the battery

Did you plug that wire into the alternator? I forgot to do that and it took me 2 batteries to figure that one out ><

you could have a bad diode in your alternator letting the battery drain thru it.

You can't measure an amperage draw across the terminals. The meter has to be connected in series with one of the battery cables. That means taking a cable off and putting one meter lead on the battery post and the other lead on the cable end.
