Sold the LT1
I just wanted to say 'Thank You' to everyone here who responded to my posts/questions over the years, all the members who take the time to respond to threads/questions in general and share their LT1 knowledge/expertise, and everyone who keeps this corner of ls1tech.com from getting stale. The technical knowledge in this sub-forum is, quite frankly, phenomenal, and I would recommend to any newcomers to heed the sage advice of the veterans here (do take advantage of the hard work of others and read the stickies).
Some of the invaluable information I learned over the years:
GM847 - *The* best cam for low RPM powah.
Installing headers - If you can't do this using your feet only in less than 45 minutes, you fail.
Changing spark plugs - Same as above.
Power washing the engine - Highly recommended, be sure to give the opti an extra good soaking.
Tune - Not necessary after mods, just use Lucas Oil Stabilizer.
Seafoam - The front seats never looked better, prevents dashboard cracks too.
LT4 intake - An absolute necessity for high horsepower applications.
LS1 lid mod - No cutting required, just get rid of the radiator, fits like a glove.
58MM TB and Airfoil - Guaranteed 50 and 35HP increases respectively (throw in the Edelbrock intake, add another 30HP).
LT1 250,000 Mile service - 5th oil change and tire rotation.
LS1 heads on an LT1? - No problem, just use copper gaskets.
Stock PCM - Good for up to 8000 RPM, probably 8200 if you descreen the MAF.
I jest, I jest; I hope to be back in a couple of years with either an LT1 or LS1.
Happy motoring everybody.
