the plugs from the lt1 pcm do not fit the ls1 pcm. so you need those plugs too, that is what you are repinning, you are moving the connections from the lt1 pcm connectors to the ls1 pcm connectors.

So This isnt so bad actually?
Itd be the cost of the kit from EFI, and sourcing a computer, and coil packs?

How hard is getting the 24 reluctor in? Will i have to drop the oilpan and the likes? Any special tools for that portion of the install?

It's easy man. You need to pull the cover so you've got to drop the pan. You'll have to pull the hub so you'll need a puller and installer. If your car is 92-95 you'll have to pull the timing chain to get the sprocket key out for the new key to hold the reluctor in place so you'll need a puller for the sprocket. And that's about it other than basic hand tools.

The dropping the pan portion worries me, never done that before, but i assume it can be done without having to remove to much stuff? My car is outside and burried in 3 feet of snow, and the opti in it is toast. So rather than buy another one, id like to do this swap and get the whole thing out of the way, without screwing anything else up too hard.

Just pull all the pan bolts except the last ones on the sides. Nothing has to be pulled for it. It's easy I did it without even lifting the car.

I'm in the middle of my 24x swap at the moment. Over the weekend I removed the wire harness. Not bad. It went faster than I thought.

I'm dreading removing the timing cover b/c I have a supercharger in addition to everything else. That'll be another long cold weekend in the garage.

Great write up, BTW!

what year of car did you pull that pcm from? or it has to be just a 0411? and will the cluster work the same?

I've been told that any 0411 PCM will work as long as its reflased and the cluster will work like stock.

After doing this, what are the options like for tuning?
Can the LS1 be tuned in real time, or do you have to flash the tune every time a change is made like with the lt1?
And are there any free ls1 tuning programs?

can anyone confirm if the wiring for the efi24x that is given on the efi site is correct for the fuel injectors?

I read that some people and efi says to flip the wires?

But on the site it says-

blue 43 inj. 4 on lsx comes from the ltx red 4
blue 44 inj. 7 lsx comes from the ltx red 6
blue 36 inj. 1 lsx comes from the ltx red 3
blue 37 inj. 6 lsx from ltx red 5

is this correct per the efi site?

The EFI chart is correct. The OP mixed up the injector pinouts using the ls1 injector pinouts not the actual EFI chart.

Man that's some mad electrical skills you got there!

Pics like these are the reason why I paid someone else to do my wiring cause it sure as hell wasn't going to be me.

I am just digging my lt1 out of the back yard to finish it. I came on here tonight to see what had came from the ls1 pcm using people (haven't been on ls1 tech in forever. And had a different SN)

Where do you buy these kits/parts?

Thanks

believe it or not Rob, that took about 30 minutes to create what you are looking at, that was just going A -> B. I later took it apart to have it flow better and align them better in the harness so it looked nicer.

for corey - eficonnection.com his stuff is high quality and worth the money, even though I did diy.
