Yes, you really dont want to try cutting or splitting, I would try solvents and dumping it out and do it repeatededly. As long as the corrosion is not in the acutal fuel, you should be fine. Also if your doing a new pump or even reusing an old one. A new fuel sock.

Otherwise I would take it to a proper shop that can clean and service since if not done right, you can spark a vapor and BOOM!

Yea. I am going to pull the tank, and just wash it out really good. What solvent should I use? Then I will dry it for a few days and put in my new Racetronix kit.

I found that my 1995 tank is coated with some kind of plastic,...you may find that something else, not attached to the actual tank is corroded, like the fuel filler which I know rust from being closer to the outside enviroment or something on the fuel pump setup,...like I mentioned my 7 year sitting tank was perfect,...the pump assembly, perfect too,...the filler neck/tube, corroded badly.

Having said all that why not just buy another tank,...I see them here for $50 complete?

FYI a plastic tank is 16.8 gallons while a steel is 15.5 gallons.
