SLP intake
I have CIA to the fender one and hate it but from what I have been told it is the only one that will fit with my over sized POS ABS ASR thingy's on my 97. Then again I would hate them all because they are a PIA to get to the fiters but then again you SHOULDN'T have to take them off that often unless your name is Jaycenk. It works good but the thing weighs like 10 lbs.

If yes, then I had this when they first came out back in 97 on my car (polished color) and I loved it. Made great power, fit well and looks awesome. Sold it to a buddy back in 99' when I put the ram air package on the car.

I've seen it done and I know it would make the most power but it seems like a huge pain in the *** and I just want to keep it simple but still be able to make a solid power number
I used the SLP dual filter CAI for around 8 years, it was one of the best looking CAI's imo, it was a little heavy compared to all the other plastic ones I guess, it is stainless though, mine was powdercoated black. Only problem as mentioned was changing the filters, it was a bit of a pita getting them both on. Not like they need to be cleaned that often though. I only sold it when I switched to a Lid recently. Installing the SLP is a piece of cake compared to making a lid work AND look nice on an an LT1. Meaning not one of the quick hack jobs.
I think the biggest compromise with going for the LS1 lid is ditching the A/C. I've got T-tops and I love the hot weather so it doesnt bother me too much. It still blows ambient temp air out of the vents so at least there is a breeze. Other than that, it's a little chopping of the metal where the radiator support bolts up, lay the radiator back a little bit, ditch the A/C condenser and your home free. I've seen some people put up 1/4 mile times saying anywhere from .1-.2 second gain but I've never seen any dyno tests. I will tell you that my ***-yno tells me it's a worth while modification. Much better throttle response and it seems like it lengthened the powerband quite a bit. It pulls hard all the way to the danger zone.
If you dont mind having the car down for a few days (The fitment definitely takes some trial and error) and doing some cutting, (I liked to think of it as weight reduction) it's a great project if your like me and just like tinkering.
