I'm gonna vote for Dwayne Jennings (96capricemgr). 11.5 at 116 in a Caprice daily driver? w00t!
He can be a little prickly at times, if you make statements you can't back up, but he's been there, done that, and has the t-shirt.

Naturally, CZ28 is going to be geared towards 5th gens now. Both Chris and Jason own them, but they both also have, or had, an LT1 F-Body. I wish they would sponsor the Shootout, it would be nice.

Mind Game had that 18* headed six speed car that ran 9s wasn't it? Him and Rick Kraus seemed to know their **** really well, Rick guy had a blower gas drop top and wrote a bunch of FAQs. It wasn't an Fcar but Jimlab had that bad *** stroker built by Mark Monatalvo (Viper Eater?) for a silver RX7, that was the first time I saw some one post a pic with some shaft mounts on a street motor. Mark was the only guy to ever sleeve an LT1 block from what I recall.

Kurt tamez? was another hard hitter, same with Dallas Castro before he left the LTX world. If your on the topic of blower Jeff, black LT1 Z28 blower car, still on Wolfes site, he deserves mention because he was one of the first guys to go 9s in a street set up Th

ere was also a guy, his name was Vince, Chris has to remember this guy because he was stirring up so much **** because he said he had a nitrous car and was claiming to run 8s before any one else. He was from up north.

Stefan is still around but he at a time was one of the fastest stock PCM car. Jason Warren with the TEA LT4 headed white Z28, 355 with the stock crank went mid 9s. He won one of those NFRA races back at Bowling Green. Think that car went 9.3s with the 355, sold it some one who said it was 383 now but was running slower, like 9.7s.

Fastest stock short block LT1? Steve Quinn, he later had that 370" NA motor that went 9.7@13x, 15:1 CR or some thing, but GM catsings and his intake, ran a shop called No Rush Racing out of Clawson, Michigan? Joe Overton later had a customer with a yellow TA that may have gotten it. Another one of his customers, black TA WS6 conv, made the most HP stock short block NA, like 44x.

Before Vtec ran his times the fastest stock short block power added LT1 was Big Kev C5, 9.7@135 maybe, I know it was a 9.7 but I can't remember the trap speed. I think that car had a glide and a lot of weight reduction, ton of gas. ECC bought it and it was never heard from again, his front frame rail looked like swiss cheese.

Sean Salazar's car was the perfect example of a six speed street LT1 nitrous car that was simple and worked. It was a 10 second car that could be driven any where you wanted and run some awesome times. Was it the fastest LT1 ever, No. But what it was, is an example of a well set up car, that held it's own. His white Z28 blower counter part, also from DFW, was Derek Martin, 355 P1SC, M6 and it ran 10s. Jon Eves old black Z28 was really similar and ran 10s. Jeff(?) from CA was another blower hard hitter, he owns Acceleronics, ran 9s, 383 S trim, later YSi and ran 9.4s before he sold it, had a Th400 in it.

One car I never got was Mike Allfords Comp TA, yes it was a clean car but they claimed 10s from it, and that it was the fastest bolt on gas LT1. But what I never liked was, didn't that car have LT4 heads on it?

Chris still has that Z28 I think, black with red stripes? Think it was a ProCharger car. Jason's old SS car had a 396 built by Nutek, he ditched it for that black 02 SS. Brent Franker bought it and painted it C5 Corvette yellow.

I joined camaroz28.com back in 1998 or 1999. I remember the site went down in around 2000 and lost all data. I had to re-register and my join date and post count started over.

Neil I was at all of the Thunder shootouts. I went 9.80's at the 2004 event and ended up runner up in Modified Stock Power Adder. I think I met you in 2002 or 2003 there. Of course I knew you online well before that.

The RV was one that "Austin F-body club" rented. Had about 10-12 peeps in there! Good times!

I can't pick one, shbox def knows tech related stuff, gizmo knows how to get the most out of a set up, Z8's has the fastest LT1 I know of, 96capricemanager knows a ton too and is usually the 1st to say you dont need 'that' to run x.xx, and mindgame is a genius as well...
I'd put Tony on the list too but seems like hes withdrawn himself

x2 for a group effort!

Yeah, he has a '95 Patriot Red Z with a Procharger, I believe. Still has it too, but it's being overshadowed by the 5th gen. How sad, many people would dream to have a Procharged Z sitting in their garage. LOL, nothing against Chris or Jason, they are great people and fun to hang with. Jason hasn't had his '02 SS for a while now, sold it to some dude, and I think it got wrecked.

OFF TOPIC, sorry. LOL

I dream of one day being able to be one of the walking LT1 encyclopedias. My buddy Dave G. needs to be added to the list, but he doesn't go on forums or anything. I don't even bag my bolts from my teardown, he just tells me where they go! The man parted out 15 LT1 cars last year alone. LOL Another smart guy with LT1s in Colin91Z. I was totally impressed with everything he knew when I was at the Shootout in '10. Great LT1 conversations at dinner that night!

Hopefully this paper will spark some interest in new blood. With the price of LT1 cars falling, hopefully we can get some honest, thoroughly interested LT1 owners involved in the new era of LT1ness.

Man, sitting around that night was great. Your car totally impresses me with the old setup, and you have to know a thing or two about them to run those numbers in my opinion. Such engaging conversation that night at dinner! Than it only got better once we all hit the parking lot! I can't wait until September! LOL

Vince McCauly aka spraytheway on cz28.com.

He had a teal 383 T trim car back in the late 90's (was the **** at the time) and battled it out with Dave Diluca (big AFR headed 396 on lots of juice) aka sled28 all the time. That was when UBBs were fun.
Then Vince got a red Z and had a carbed 383 LT1 built by a builder in the south US. It went 8's IIRC. Don't know if he still has the car.
Sled passed away a few years ago. RIP

I joined cz28 in 1999 or 2000 and remember local **** disturber SSSRR going at it with Back in Black and a few of his cronies. Was amusing at the time. Still is.

... and to think I was a mod for the Texas section back then. It would appear old habits never die in my case.
Wonder what ever happened to that BnB knucklehead. Last I heard he bought a car off the board (Franksomeone). It was some heads/cam tin can thing. After he bought that he disappeared from cz28.com and Tealnet. Big mouth with shallow pockets is what I reckon.

Sorry to regenerate and old thread but, Sled died?! How? Had no idea. Would talk to him all the time about crazy **** like titanium rods and ultra light weight cranks and parts.

IIRC BnB got t-boned and that was the end of his run at cz28.

Too many on cz28 that I remember from way back when.... Jimlab, Jordon Musser, Racing, etc...
