Default The dreaded optispark

Well it's looking like it is that time and I have to replace my optispark. I am planning on replacing it with the MSD one which I have heard is the best one out there. What I am wondering is if there is anything else that I should do while I am doing that?

I have had good experiences with a few of the optis-out there but the concensus is the GM vented opti is the best one.

MSD is not the best.

The only nice thing about the MSD is if you have a 93 or 94 - you can convert to a vented cap/rotor without the hassle of changing everything else. But for a 95+ there is no benefit to the MSD, plus it's $100 more expensive than an AC Delco.

Replace the front seals and be careful not to fubar the wp seal. Msd might be the most expensive opti out there. You'll be better off buying a Gm opti or search for ChandlerMotorSports on here that sells optisparks for less than the others and has a warranty.

This isn't a personal jab, "riceburner", but IMHO the Opti is such a PITA to remove/replace, screw the warranty...give me a piece that's bulletproof!!

IMO there is no such thing as a bulletproof Opti and that Chandler Opti is a good piece and many people have had good luck with it so I wouldn't be afraid to run it and you can't beat the price. if it goes out, it doesnt hurt your wallet too bad compared to others.
