Default Trying to switch to OBD 1. Have tried two separate OBD1 PCM's and car still....

I am completely lost. I have been trying to switch over to OBD1 PCM but the car just dies after about 3 seconds. I have tried two separate OBD1 PCM's with the VATS removed and no luck. As soon as I stick the OBD2 PCM back in it stays running.

Is there anything I could have done or removed when I was using the OBD2 PCM at the time that is causing these OBD1 PCM's to die after 3 seconds? Thanks for any help.

Yep, but even if I didn't would that cause it to die after 3 seconds?

I am trying to help him out, I have never ran into this problem, we have always just installed the OBD I PCM and the cars would fire right up, The knock sensor would only throw a SES light, I tried deleting the VATS on one ( which I have never had to do before) and sent him a different PCM with the same problem, I am also stumped.

Does it have a knock module in the PCM?

Might not help but we went to fire mine up and it would run for a second or 2 and die. I checked my scanner and my fuel trims where like 128. I disconnected my maf sensor and she runs all the time. Havent had a chance to keep looking at it. I dont know if that will even help you.

If Moe is stuck then your car is fukt.

The ks will only cause a ses light.
Are you still running your factory ckp sensor?

Just to let you know after I got off the phone with you I drove it like that. Problem was when I pressed the gas pedal just half way down the car almost dies.

I am having the same problem with my OBD2 to OBD1 swap . I have a 97 TA that has been stroked ,cammed and LT4 intake . i decided to go all in on a OBD1 swap, socketed PCM , moates cable and OBD 1 knock sensor .. Now the car wont run. i stick the OBD2 PCM in and it fires right up . i found this tread through hours of googling .. can you please tell me what fixed the problem ?

This is probably a really stupid question, but why the hell are so many of you guys wanting to change to an OBD2 PCM? Somebody tell you they would run faster?

after my mods i had to get something tuned . i started with a junkyard PCM for 30$ and a cable for 70$ . i know quite a bit about computers ,so in theory for a 100$ i should have been able to data log and tune myself . unfortunately the junk yard PCM got bricked while i was writing a tune to it ,so for another hundred i got it socketed . The knock sensor was like 35$ .. so hindsight , i should have just sent my OBD2 off ..
