i wasnt saying you have a spun bearing but any time run without oil pressure will possibly destroy bearings ,be safe check them.
there are some instances with the cheaper melling pumps where the housing actually breaks in half... first remove the lifters and drill prime the system and see if oil runs thru the lifter areas...its also possible you popped one of those small freeze plugs on the front of the motor behind the timing cover/chain that caps the lifter oil main lines off
Auto zone should have a priming tool

Wow..so um.......it wasn't ANY of the above! FML...
The cam broke into 2 pieces just after the 4th journal! NOTHING ELSE broke. All rods are in tact, all lifters/pushrods/etc were perfect, just had 2 pieces of cam!
I got the main part out, but the last 4" are still in there...trying to figure out how to get it out without having to pull the motor completely, but as it looks right now....thats not likely...
Here are the pics...

If it were mine I would tear it down and have the block cleaned and inspect everything even if that means having a builder inspect the cam bore for aligment. Once everything is checked out, replaced or what not then get a new cam and put it back together. Takes out the ? mark if there is something other then a faulty cast of the cam that caused this.
