I think I may have an EVAP problem??
Okay guys, i've been trying to track down this raw fuel smell that keeps popping up in my car.
The last two weeks my car has been getting a raw fuel smell at random but usually after I drive it for awhile or go race it, it shows up. I'm not finding any leaks under the hood or anything and I thought maybe I fouled my plugs cause I ran the car without O2's for about 2 weeks. Also, the SES would come on after awhile when that smell would show up. well i changed my plugs last night with NGK TR55's and it didn't change really (although i'm glad I did it cause I discovered a loose plug and some were not gapped correctly.) I started it up let it warm up and 5 minutes later when I went to leave, the SES was on. I'm not sure what code it's throwing but it was running okay. car drives fine but seems to have like a 100 RPM surge when cruising.
Never got the smell till after awhile and couldn't figure out where it was coming from. Got home and tried to find the source, and I ended up pinpointing it to area around the fuel door and in the wheel well. i opened the fuel door and unscrewed the cap and it had a TON of pressure in it. These caps are supposed to vented right? Could this be my problem? Can this throw the SES light?
Any suggestions?

Btw joe I love that sig pic of your car launching, sounds awesome too!
I've heard of this method a long time ago but never have done it and it sounds complicated.
I've heard of this method a long time ago but never have done it and it sounds complicated.
Insert paper clip to connect terminal A and B (two top right-most terminals).
Turn the key on.
The SES will flash once (for 1) and then twice (for 2). 1+2 = code 12. It will repeat this 3 times. This is just telling you the PCM is in diagnostic mode and means NOTHING in terms of your current codes. Once the DTC 12 has flashed 3 times (DTC stands for diagnostic trouble code)...
It will then flash your current stored DTCs. You'll see it flash X amount of times, then pause, then flash Y amunt of times. SO if it flashes 4 times, then pauses, then another 3 times, you have code 43 stored. Any additional codes will then be flashed in the same fashion.
It's easy once you do it.
