Just FYI, on mine the back bolt is the one with the slot below the bolt, so the procedure is to loosen the back bolt, remove the front bolt, and then slide the bracket up.

Taking the bracket off allowed me to clean it and clean that area of the block, which is an added bonus. Definitely taking off the bracket is the way to go.

Oh, and mine is a California emissions model with dual cats, so all I had to do to get to everything is remove the DS cat.
