Default Heater hose/coolant help *PICS*

I have a 1995 Camaro that has a cut coolant line. I don't how it happened but maybe I grazed it while doing my valve covers or something I don't know. I was driving down the road and my temp went past 240^F and I immediately shut the car off. I opened the hood and there was coolant everywhere. I found the hole (can fit two fingers), and cleaned everything up. The next day I traced the line and did some research and it looks like it goes into the heater core or at least into the black box on the passenger side firewall.

It's cut above the restrictor, right where it connects to the water pump. I was going to just replace the line no problem, but it connects to the metal "clamps" right beside the passenger side exhaust manifold. I'm guessing those are like heat shields for the line?? So here's my problems.
I have no idea how to connect a new rubber hose to the skinny metal pipe or those clamps. I plan on taking out my entire a/c when I do the tubular k member this month.
What is a heater core bypass? Do I need the heater core? When I remove the a/c, should I just take out the heater core with it? btw I don't need heat or any comforts, I have t tops for a reason

It's cut at '12'

Here's a picture of the cut and the hose i'm talking about. don't mind the factory hose clamp i slid that off for the picture.

For a temporary fix I put a hose clamp directly over the cut, and pulled the hose over the water pump more. It worked enough for me to put enough coolant in and get the motor up to temp again.

Your heater core provides heat inside the car. Try cutting the line at the hole and see if you have enough to pull the hose onto the barb on the water pump. may last for a while other wise you need to replace it if you want heat when it gets cool out.

If you are doing away with the heat then take off your water pump and have the two outlets plugged.

That's pretty much what I did. I pulled more of hose onto the water pump and used two hose clamps. I don't trust this and I don't plan on running this way for long.

What else needs to be done? So the heater core isn't functional in cooling the car off, unless my heat is on in the first place? I don't have heat anyways, so all of it is useless weight.

The radiator is used to cool the engine. Though it will obviously dissipate some heat, the heater core's primary purpose is to keep you warm.

Thanks for confirming. I hope you didn't mind me posting a picture from your site. I use it so often that I didn't think about it.
Is there anything else that needs to be plugged other than the two hoses on water pump? What's the best method to plug these(freeze plugs?)

if you tap the holes and use plugs, later on if you want heat back just install some fittings. then run new hoses.
