Default looking for ideas

hey guys so im a new member but i usually get on here everyday and i think that you guys deff know ur ****. so anyways i have a 96 camaro ss m6 with the hotcam, lt4 intake, ported heads(idk what parts were used on them or the brand as i did not build the engine, i bought it with all the mods already done) i also have magnaflow dual exhaust, and pacesetter mids. i have about 10grand to throw at it and i was looking for some opinions. i was thinking about building a 383 stroker with a lloyd elliot head and cam, new rear end with 4.10 gears, and new suspension. the car is a dd. the reason for wanting to build a new engine is because the setup that is on the car now is from the previous owner and i want my own setup. thank you for your input

ya i bought the car for $4500 so it left me with alot of money left over lol but i had thought about the ls1 swap but i really wanna keep the lt1. i have talked to chad golen about building me an engine but i know it would be way cheaper to do myself, that way i could still have money left over for supporting mods

My first thought is.....what's wrong with your current motor setup? Not fast enough or do you just have too much money burning a hole in your pocket? I would first build all the things the previous owner didn't. Ie suspension, interior, rear end, paint and body work....etc. it sucks having a daily driver that is fast but ugly or uncomfortable or rides like ***. I under stand wanting to make the motor what you want it to be, butyou spend that 10k on the rest of the car first(if your motor is still running strong) then when you are turning heads from how good your car looks and sounds, they wont call you Mullet head for having a loud car and nothing else.

Plus you're less likely to be harrassed by law enforcement.

theres nothing wrong with the engine at the moment. it runs really strong and the tune on it is good. plus the engine only has about 10k on it since the previous owner did his build but im just looking for some more power but the car doesnt look bad at all and paint is part of the plan i just forgot to mention it. the only problem with the interior is the passanger seat leather is torn up but i am already in the process of getting that replaced. the only things that the previous owner didnt touch were the clutch and rear end. i have already replaced the clutch with a spec stage 2

and for the cop situation im pretty good there as my dad is a cop and i know quite a few of them through him. im also a security guard at the main hospital in town and deal with law enforcement quite often

Well if all the other bases are covered, then by all means build a monster. But if I can suggest it. Buy and extra block to do the build with. That way you can work slow and steady and make sure its perfect and not rushed.

All LT1 block are essentially the same, except some are 2-bolt and some are 4-bolt. If you can pick up a 4-bolt block, that's a great start.

you could do heads and cam through ai leaving the shortblock the way it is and be close to the times that joe has. call them and tell them your goals. You dont HAVE to build a stroker to make power.

i realize that you dont need a stroker for power but since i got into lt1 i have always wanted one, but lets say i decide to ditch that idea, is it difficult to get to 450+hp?

there have been alot of guys put down over 400 to the wheels with a factory like shortblock. but not much over 400. i dont think 450 would be obtainable on a 350 cubed LT1 with factory intake and farther more with drivability. but its possible i suppose.
