Yeah he said it was an LT4 or L98 and I believed it until I took a better look at it. I feel bad though so I'll give him a commission from the money I get for selling it or from the money i had saved the trade I'm trying to set up goes well.
If it is a LT5 engine, take it and sell it and it could fund the rest of your build easily and destroy a LT5's best effort for a fraction of the cost it would take to build that LT5. They are junk. Keep tools as far away from it as possible. There is a reason the engine had a short life span at GM. As far as upkeep you'd most likely be better of with a late 1970's Jaguar. I was always told the engine cost more than the brand new complete/rolling chassis it went into. If it is indeed a TPI motor, run like you are on Martin Luther King Blvd.
I also advise, check if that isnt an L98. that motor is a waste of metal.
If I were you, I'd keep it and build it unless you can get a stupid amount of money for it. I love the rarity factor, not to mention the uniqueness of it. I say keep it, build it, and show it off.

This is almost a complete load of horse stuff. Funding it to beat an LT5s best effort? sure you are right it would be a fraction of the cost but a few i know of are 590-630 RWHP and idle slightly more aggressive than stock and run 132+ mph in the 1/4. Thats without nitrous. They are NOT junk. They are GMs BEST MOTOR EVER BUILT to date period. there are no ifs ands or buts. Research the LT5 and dont listen to dumb idiotic people who think lifespan means something. the LT5 option DOUBLED the cost of a base corvette back in 1990. it was cost that killed it. i know of one that makes 597 rwhp and walked a new 2010 zr1 in a roll race.

I always thought that too. Do you think GM could made a modern day version of the LT5 cheaper now?
Did they ever make "crate LT5" motors?
