So I've been driving around with a blow up motor all this time?

Plenty of cars have blown up cam only too...and even just bolt-on :p

It all has to do with who installed and tuned it - a 150 shot should not be an issue at all for even a bone stock LT1.

I am starting out now with a little over a grand to work with (This budget will of course increase over time). Where do I start? Looking for some advice or opinions.
I got around with no problems.
stock internal lt1
full exhaust midtube headers no cats
60lbs injectors
255 intake pump
complete msd package wires/coil blaster/6al/opti
p600b 8 rib 8psi
pump gas tune
that will get you by,but for how long depends on your driving no track or heavy abuse. But if you want a firm do it once! then take "LSWHO" advice

or go with nitrous /gear/tires and tune

One could say that about boost too... guy on camaroz28 ran a blower for 5+ years no problems.

Neither are "safe". Even a cam swap imo isn't unless you keep the top revs around 6000. Yes cars have blown up with bolt ons too but that's extremely rare.

Let the flame begin!!!!!

If you want F/I with low boost that the LT1 can better handle and on the cheap, Powerdyne is your option. 4.5-6psi extra 75-125hp bump all for about your budget (used).

Flame suit on!
