Hey, I am too...what kind of engineer? I'm a state-licensed red seal refrigeration engineer AND a state-license black seal high pressure boiler engineer. Maybe I know something about how heat works, maybe I don't.

I'm a mechanical engineer, there are no facts saying it actually has any positive or negative effect on heat transfer into or out of an engine, but it is a theory that if there is any effect, which is what I was saying to gregrob that it doesn't make any difference, IF you went by that theory, black on the outside and white on the inside would work best. I brought up this topic to my internal combustion engines professor when I was in school, dr. Nigel Clark, and he talked about the reasons people had for painting the interior and exterior certain colors, but said like you said Ramair, that there are no facts supporting any colors having any effects. But if you were going to go by those theories, wether for superstitious purposes or for your own thoughts, white inside and black outside would be your choice.

Another point to this discussion is that painting your engine block at all fills in the slight casting imperfections therefore reducing surface area, and adds one more medium for heat to have to pass through to escape

Now you're just grasping at straws... I seriously mean you no disrespect, but this whole conversation is retarded.

Color is 100% on reflection of light...........

Your lifter valley can be bright green but if there is no light to it then well its black.....

If there are any effects its has NOTHING to do with the color. It would be solely on what the paint is made of
