Default Harmonic Balancer Help

Ive been trying to figure out for quite a while why my car shakes real bad the faster i go.

driving at 65mph it feels ok, but passing 70 it starts to shake worse. Its not loss of power it just feels like the car is going to fall appart the faster i go. It starts shaking real bad. and when I let go of the gas, the car still shakes until i get to 65mph then it stops shaking if i keep it at 65.

Anyways I think ive found out what it is, ive was looking under the car and saw that the harmonic balancer would kind of wobble. Not alot, but enough to notice that it can be a problem. Could this cause the high speed vibrations?

If it is how hard is this job and what do I have to do to repair it?

i would guess its a wheel or driveshaft out of balance. not sure about the HB.. thats odd. plus it would vibrate with rpm not with speed if that was the problem.

ok i gotta say this cause its too funny and also i think that can be also the problem. Fortunately i bought some z06 wheels from a shop for a real cheap price with michellin pilot tires. I did a brake job on the car not that often and i notice the back tires where diferrent size lol after having the wheels for about 5 months. both rear tires are 18s, but 1 of the rears are 10.5 width and the other is 9.5 in widht lol.

It is not the harmonic balancer.

1. Your car doesn't have a harmonic balancer, it has a damper.
2. It's not the damper either.
3. If it were either of the above it would shake at a specific rpm, not a specific speed.
4. Most likely a driveshaft problem, very common. Try flipping it where it mounts by the rearend.

Got it its a damper, but it does it from 70 all the way to higher speeds if i keep going ti gets worst and ive seen the wobble on the damper, doesnt look normal to me.

If it is the driveshaft and say its damaged or bent how much are they running as in cash.

If it was the damper you should feel the vibration at idle or while revving the engine...but you say you can see it moving so its either the damper is damaged or the bolts aren't tight. The vibrations could be the driveshaft, wheels out of balance etc. You should be able to get a used driveshaft for about $100.

so in other words i would have to risk buying online a crappy driveshaft for 100 buck or i can spend major bucks buying a new one. dammit this sucks.

umm or get it balanced...
most places will check for straightness for free if you remove it yourself...
also the weights on one of those shiny new wheels you got may have fell off, or it was never balanced right in the first place.. go get both of these checked first then you know where to spend your money.

Steering wheel shakes? Could be a bad rotor, a bad tie rod end, unbalanced front wheel, etc, etc,

sounds like tires need balancing. if it only does it while braking, then ur rotors are warped and need turning

sounds like a wheel out of balance...if you steering wheel is shaking it could as be a bad tie-rod, bearing or combination.

The damper you need to get addressed ASAP...this could get expensive for you. i didn't pay attention to mine and it ended up destroying the end of the crankshaft...that led to a whole motor rebuild.

1. Remove your driveshaft
2. Send the piece of junk to get fixed and balanced.
3. Test it

if that doesn't fix it
1. Remove ur wheels and tires
2. Drive to Tire Pro's and have them balanced
3. Test

guarantee its one of them two things..........prob the dshaft

Ok so i notice that all my wheels except one didnt have any weights. Sound like im going to the tires shop to balance the wheels. Im also going to change the damper since its shaking regardless I have to. If these two things dont work, Il then check the driveshaft.

Thanks you guys hope the first two work.
