Default CSR waterpump failure

Anyone besides me have an electric waterpump fail by leaking coolant out the grommet where the wiring goes into the motor?

I can't complain too much about this thing finally failing. It's been in there for 7 years and over 50,000 miles.

What's really hard to believe is it still runs and pumps, just drips a little. I guess it's time to put the spare in that's been riding with the spare tire for 7 years.

Hell, 7 years for an EWP is something to be proud of!

I had my csr fail after less than a year, the main shaft seal failed and loaded the coils with coolant.

no experience with CSR

your ewp has water getting into the "electrical motor part"....obviously not good. fortunately you have a spare and a ewp swap takes only minutes.

FWIW my Meziere has been on for 15 years now....WAY outlasting any OEM type WP. Spare meizere still sits in the trunk

yeah me to. had it on since 99. Back then the "sky is falling" crowd said a EWP would never last on the street. For me it has lasted 75k miles. It will fail as any WP eventually will.

...spare in the trunk will have me on the road again quickly

I returned my then 500 mile new AC Delco dealer installed WP (warrenty) and got a replacement one. It has been it it's unopened box since 99...as a door stop...works great

When you buy them I'm pretty sure they list their lifespan in hours. I can't remember exactly though. I have the Summit racing ewp.

When running my LT1 I had 2 CSR's the first died due to a unknown wiring issue in the dash by the previous owner which was back feeding into the ground and shorted out the pump.

The second worked mint up until I parted the car out. The only issue I had was the drain on the battery was a bit much and the charging system on a stock pulley and no real stereo put a strain on everything.

If this LS1 ever gets one, it will be wired different. That is for sure.
