Default 58mm TB and 52-54mm Inlet Issue

Well since i have finished my build and got to the dyno it has been bugging me since i know the the inlet on my intake is probubly a 52-54mm. I bought my ported intake and was told it was a 58mm inlet so i bought a 58mm tb and soon as i put it on i was like fawk this is not good. So anyway i found a 52mm Holley locally and im going the snag it up since not only willl look 100x better then the satin Professional Products tb it will flow way better and not choked and disrupting the incoming airflow turbulance etc. Im going on the dyno in two weeks as my last one my fuel pump started to take a **** so i got incomplete pulls going way lean. Im sure i will pick some power but will this affect throttle responce and any other things? I doubt ill loose power as i know a 58mm was kind of overkill for my build but got it regardless so might be a plus aswell

Thoughts?

Guess i answered my own question if no one is answering the thread? Just curious if someone had some info the chime in on what going a proper size tb to match the inlet will do vs having the 58 and choking it.

if your intake manifold was not machined for a 58...then yes it will not work. 52mm TB will fit a stock manifold.

You will need to have the PCM programed for the larger TB of any size. Transmission problems will soon follow if you do not.

you "may" also find you have idle issues with the aftermarket TB...there are ways to resolve this if you do.

Assume you have a new tune for the head/cam combo

Yeh its currently tuned forthe setup but the fuel pump was crapping out so i know when i get the new pump in this week it will be off. When it goes in for dyno tunning in two weeks it will be retuned for the new pump and tb change anyway so should be fine. Either way the Holley looks way better and it perform an run alot smoother then when it did with the 58 which i dont exactly need for my build. Win Win situation

My car on the dyno years ago at WOT went lean and started backfiring...I had a FP gauge on at the time and it hit zero. The OEM pump just could not keep up. Put in a walbro 255 years ago and no problem with FP since.

That was on my heads/cam/FORD 30 lb injector motor.

I also have a 52 but it is a stock rebored one.
