well i guess this doesnt even matter since I am probably going to have to sell the car, since I had the problem with the car after I got it any it started making this ticking noise after I got the car tuned up. Now I am going to end up losing money, since I really dont have space or the tools to work on it. : (

I am hoping I could get 3500 for the car any input?

its not up offically, I have no idea what I want to do yet, I will post a video of the idle clip 2morrow , it will be hard to hear the ticking( b.c camera will have to be at least 10 ft from car b.c sound muffles bad, if to close) but you wanted to hear idle to hear " cam sound". I dont know what to do I can turn this into a project now, or sell for a loss. I dont have much money so It would be a project over a year. B.c I really dont know anyone reliable that knows there camaros lt1/ls1 in person they are mechanics but you know the ones I know say they need to get it up or get it apart, which I knew ppl in the past that that would not have mattered they would put it up in the air in my garage and figure it out and would hlp me out through the day. So if I was to keep it, I have two options rip out the engine soon, then over time when get the funding do le heads with a 383 or 396 or doing a ls1 swap. This has me so down , I only got to drive this car for less than 14 hours total.

I know of SEVERAL folks that live in you rneck of the woods that would be happy to help out. it could be something very minor. I believe the car club is NIFBA.

Don't jump ship yet. Ticking could be something as little as an exhaust leak.

nifba???, I dont want to jump ship,it has just been sitting for months and no1 really seems to know the noise and there like I need to pull apart the engine to tell; and the one person that thought it was something else is to busy b.c he ft at my work working 60hrs a week. I really hope it something small , the rockers all seem to be fine, when we checked it , and Gator I would appreciate the help man, could use it ASAP due to I have only driven it less than 14hrs and it has been sitting since that noise happend. I want to keep this car so bad and I want it to be a simple fix. Any time this week woould be cool ; )

*** The noise is a slight ticking/ light knock sounds like something rattlein inside the intake mani and then if you push down on the driver side valve cover it will stop for a second then starts again. I will try and get a video up though For the Idle plus ticking

where is the ticking coming from? how new are the rockers? I've had the pivot ***** stop rotating on me, and wore down way too fast in a very short period of time. You could have an exhaust leak right at the manifold to the head, that'll make an awful ticking noise.

It is a knock/ ticking noise if you drive it at least and kind of sounds lound squeeky and then when idle it is ticking. Sounds like a fluttering on the top. I just drove it a block it has been the most I have driven it in months since it has been sitting the whole time. It seemed like it was about to die out and stop working right when I was about to get home

Does it sound like it's coming from a certain side? take the valve covers off, and at tdc for each cylinder the rockers shouldn't have play. you'll know what is excesive play. it's really simple to adjust valves. a new set of pivot ***** from comp cams is $10. might as well put roller tip rockers, if the rockers are trashed from the excess wear.

That's very crappy. How deep do you want to go into it? probably should sell it or pick up a stock motor with the money. did you get a chance to open it and look at the damage?

I looked at it yesterday. We didn't open it up but is without a doubt a rod knock. Coming from #8. you can feel it through the intake. felt bad to give the news but we came up with some options for him. When he is ready I will yank it out for him and go from there. Once it gets torn open he can make choices depending on his budget. I was hoping it would be a simple fix and get him back going. I wouldn't ditch the car, it is a nice car and good starting point for him. Has lots of potential
