Forgive me if I gave you the wrong impression. I was just listing a very basic, "back yard", type rebuild. It's as cheap as they come. Moe has a very good option in pulling the pan and replacing only the main/thrust bearing or all the mains at once. It can be done in the car, but will most likely be easier to do it with the engine out. If you're planning on doing a stroker, personally, I'd just leave the current engine as is and find another block to slowly build as $$ allows. Not only will you get the enjoyment of still driving the car, but it will allow you to do things at a slower pace. Just make sure you have a definite goal set, otherwise it may drag on forever.
