LT1 vs 6.0 swap
#41
Looks like im going to stick to my 6.0 swap. I was getting a little discouraged when i sat down and looked at everything. And like some said i couldnt stand having a head cam lt1 and get my *** busted by cam only ls1. I guess if you cant beat them, join them.

Pretty much. Except mustangs under no circumstances are you to join them. Unless your going lsx notch Hahaa. Also remember you can sell off your lt1 and bolt ons to help offset cost.

All true, just remember theirs nothing like a having a lt1 that ruins the party of ls's and them actually not understanding how it could happen. More people out their than you think are under the skewed beleif that a lt1 can't make power.
Go ls
Go ls

In th grand scheme of things, if you've got a car on the street running low 12s - high 11s in street trim, chances are, you wont run into a car at a stoplight that will outrun you. Doesn't matter if it's an LS or LT.
I appreciate both of these platforms as they can both be hell on wheels, it's just the LS doesn't have an opti, has millions of donors floating around, and is relatively cheap for the power output (until you go forged....not saying any names here Matt...lol).
I really have to encourage anyone thinking about doing the swap to do 2 things 1) drive a bone-stock 5.3 or 6.0 truck. 2) find a buddy that's about to do a tear down or assembly of an LS and just give them a hand. It would give you a way better insight of what this platform is about and how friendly they are to work on. GM took what they learned on the LT1 and LT5 platforms and refined it in the LS and did a good job doing it. LT1/4s still put a smile on my face, but the new tech advancements are well worth the trouble of the swap.

Thanks man A lot of time and money to get it there but I am pretty happy with it too...
Who you calling forged...lol
For sure! Thanks again bud!
IN all honesty like I said before that I like both platforms and I am fully aware of the power potential of the LT1...
With that being said....Once you tear down an LS motor you will realize why the design is superior in all aspects...
Go 6.0 and you won't be disappointed... (unless you ****** a wrist pin out a piston)

Thanks guys. I was just getting a little overwhelmed with the small things i guess. I have the engine, i know where a harness from a 2000 car and a stock k member is for cheap, i know where an ls6 intake, ported ls1 tb, and a water pump is that i can snag for cheap as well. Have a friend on my local forum that i have never heard bad things about when it comes to harnesses.

That's exactly what your sister calls mine..
Sounds like you got it whipped then..man a $6k budget is alot when you have the engine already..you have alot of room to play here.
