I think you will be much lower than 6k.......IF.....you don't let things spiral out of control and start buying bigger and better parts and your motor you have now is in good shape.....however even rings and bearings aren't too terribly costly...

with the long block on hand, you should be able to do it for less than $4k - ALL included.

Me personally I'd re-built it into a 370..that's keeping the stock Crank, I'd go aftermarket Rods & Pistons, have it balanced, new Bearings, decent Cam, decent Heads & Intake, and rock with that setup..

If I was to build another one it's going to be a 370, or a de-stroked 6.0l with a Turbo..

Well like i said i want to do this as cheap as possible but 6k is the most i will spend. I mainly want to get rid of the opti and make some Hp along the way. My goals are mid 7s 1/8 mile and around 375-400hp that is very streetable. Im MAINLY looking for dependability over the opti. I go to the coast on a regular basis and getting down there and the opti die would be a REAL pain in the ***.

A 6.0 with a 22x/23x cam sounds like what you are looking for. The EPS grinds are having a lot of success. Until you start getting into cams like the MS4, TRex, F15 etc streetability becomes an issue. If you decide to go boost I would say go with a 5.3 or 4.8.

Ok guys tell me if i messed up. I sold my 6.0 lq4 longblock to my friend for 800 and his lm7. I thought it sounded like a good deal. The wife decided she wanted a new car so my 6.0 set up has been cut down and i figured i could build up the lm7 to be what i want (7.5 on 1/8) with say a 224r cam, full bolts and a 125 shot. When can get some spare cash find another 6.0 and just swap it out. So what do you think. Still wont have an opti.

Id say that it would be alot easier and smarter to just wait for a 6.0 and do it right the first time.

It's going to coast you far more than 6K for a built/blown application. At least double that figure.

How much is that 24x Conversion..as in average price? I know the LS1 Harness and PCM will run about $300 of that..

You can make decent power with a 5.3.

^^ Yep, smaller cubes more boost is a proven formula, GM high tech just made 1203 on a stock 4.8 with rodbolts, headstuds and a ring regap. They were running 110 but still a hell of a lot for a stock motor

I wont be going with boost. Small tr224 cam, stock heads, ls6 intake, 125 shot. 400hp easy.

When I looked at doing it, the bottom line was about $2k for the whole 24x setup. The heads, intake and core motor for my swap cost about that much. But then again, my LTX setup was going over $10k turn key (forged 383, AFRs, 24x, etc)....Then there's the rest of the car, lol.
