I also am looking for help with my stock Z28. It has a full exhausts but nothing else. I just ordered a cold air intake for it and would like to put an SS hood and spoiler on it. What would be next after cold air intake to give it a little more power but still keeping it very dependable?

Also, thanks in advance to all for the help!

Get a mail order tune or better yet, a dyno tune next.

Maybe you should mention if it's for street prep or race prep next time.

Gears 700? Stall 500? That's way too much shop around I seen gears for 200 and a good stall for about 350.

yeah you can buy gears for $200... but they're not gonna do any good unless you have them installed... which you get raped on the install. no such thing as a "good" stall for $350. maybe if you're completely stock.

so... i was totally thinking you should get a CAI!! that ram air is totally choking your ****! stock intakes blow!! you need it to suck!!

also i noticed you have true duals, have you considered putting long tubes on? i know a lot of people run custom true duals off of the stock manifolds, but you really have a lot to gain by switching to long tubes.

i wouldn't recommend the leaf blower, adds a lot of weight and then you have to put gas into that, which if you think about it will kill your mpgs. i'd recommend like a tornado, or electric supercharger. these will BOOST not only your motor, but will also boost your gas mileage!

i think with these simple changes you'll easily be running 12's in colorado, and 10's here in AZ.

all the weight reduction you can do.. rear seats, sway bar, spare tire parts.. with your stall and some tires like you mentioned.. you will get positive results.

the biggest thing is the proper air pressure, and dialing in your launch and reaction time if your hitting the track.

Is it the Camaro SS stock ram-air box? I heard they are the worst most restrictive ram air ever made on a 4th gen.....Firehawks have the best ram air setup with the baffles removed, WS6 cars are 2nd best (still have baffles)....Camaro SS is the WORST design due to the 180 turn....my firehawk lets the air blast directly to the airbox/filer setup. You probably would pick up power with a CAI or LS1 lid if your running the SLP designed box for the LT1.

I have a 97 LT1 Ram Air Trans Am with no spare or jack, 95 PCM with custom tune, Ram Air intake to go with the Ram Air part of Ram Air Trans Am, 1.6RR, EWP, LE2 cam, LPP Long tube headers and True duals, 3200 stall, 3.42s. Ready to install; LCAs and LCArs, PHB. DRs, SFCs already planned. I am thinking of a 52mm TB, impala head gaskets while cleaning up the heads and maybe a valve job, and that worthless airfoil. Maybe a ported intake and 58mm but I doubt it.

I never said a stall is $500 and gears are $700. However I did say the other way around. I'm not the dude that gets cheap parts. I'd go with a quality 4000rpm stall with antiballoon plates and lockup. I'd also not install the gears as I'd want it done correctly and I don't want to grenade something I've never done. So gears installed = $500ish. Stall = EASILY $700+

I am NOT going to cheap out on anything. This post is looking for GOOD PARTS that I have not installed that ARE cheap in and of themselves. Like the cheap bolt ons I've skipped. Similar to the ones I've already mentioned.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read this damn post before commenting further. If I cared about this thread I'd surely have a migraine from these responses.

Going fast isn't cheap.....

You seem to have all the bolt ons that are LESS money then others install the suspension and do some fine tuning and I think you will be Happy with the set up

I am hoping to pay said guy to make me some SFCs too! I have cash...!

I have the full amount for DRs so those are soon as well.

My only concern is the crappy LPP True duals with that torque arm. But I'm all for a torque arm too.

I'd still like to aim that drivers side exhaust pipe up a bit too. I'm considering getting rid of the mufflers soon too. Maybe putting some straight under the axle exhaust. I think the mufflers are restrictive.
