Depending on the mileage, it should still run strong. Exactly how many miles are on the motor? Are we talking 150k+?

Yes, 180k+. No leaks or anything though, but I plan on spraying this motor anyway while another motor is built......

Safe to assume low 13's with around 1.9 60's? I'm thinking 13.2@105..........(Atco raceway)......

What does everyone else think???? I can't wait to take it to the track, that is all I know. It will be at Atco (an unusually fast track) so I am definately hoping for low 13's.

Yeah, mid low 13's at about 104-106 should be about your average. I like atco. It's why I moved only 15 minutes from the track. Nice and fast. My black 93 there went 13.632@102.32 with a CAI, gutted cat, Hypertech Coil, and B&M Ripper.

Yeah, my black one. It was a pretty strong runner. I got down to a very traction limited 13.09@106.8 with my exhaust and a chip from PCMForless, and an OEM ram air setup. Never had the valve covers off. I'm working on a 355 bottom end and custom cam setup now, searching for 450ish at the ground when it's all said and done, N/A.

No, to many miles, to many mods and a crappy cottman tranny, those guys build the worst trannies ever. It looks like a whored out high mile car with a crappy rebuild.

Yea, I wont candy coat it, he buys that car, fine hes looking to rebuild the motor but I gaurntee that tranny wont last. Sure as hell wont last on gas. So if hes getting it for next to nothing and plan on a motor and a TH350, but other wise, to many miles and the tranny will puke. Cottman has so many complaints.

No, I agree with you on the tranny. Actually, it would be in his best interests to have a compression/leakdown test done prior to purchase.

How much is the car in question??

I agree the tranny is crap also. However, for the time being, it actually feels pretty decent. I was actually looking for a car as a rolling chassis in the SUB 3k range with a clean title, and "decent" (no MAJOR body work), and I came across this 94 z with brand new tires and 17inch SS rims. I picked the car up for $2600 . I have a brand new Torsion R posi unit along with 3.73's OR 4.10's to put in the rear when it goes (brothers switching to 12 bolt so I have his extras), and I also plan on putting in a TH350, then eventually will get a 12 bolt for my car. I plan on building just a little 355 and spray that. Also, I HATE T-tops and this happens to be a hardtop, so that was a major plus, since I was having problems finding them.

So.....how do you think it will run even with all those miles?? (beat parents 99Z28 A4 that ran 13.21@104.6 on the way home from a stop, both of us got decent traction).

Lastly, do you think the motor/trans will hold up for a 250+ shot for one last glory run?

I plan on having a trailer because it should do this

Well, You're talking about an LT1 from a stop vs. an LS1 from a stop. Yeah, you probably got a little on the LS1 out of the hole, but by the 1/4 mile he probably would have passed you.

I'm sticking with my guns. Mid 13's at about 104.

For what it's worth, we ran a 1/4 mile. If I trap 104, that should be good for low 13's/high 12's with a good 60'.

(PS: My name is 5.8litrels1eater because I owned a 351 notchback stang, while my parents/brother all owned LS1 f-bods. Before that I owned a trem. 5 speed nitroused 306 91LX.).

2600 is a good deal, that cottman would prolly take a **** on motor let alone gas. I'd run some race gas when you spray that 250 shot.

So which will go first?? The freshly rebuilt trans, or the 180k engine?? You say the trans??? I just wanna make it down the track with a 250 shot, but before that I am running motor, so hopefully the trans doesn't give out then. The trans does feel really good though, and the funny thing is, is that it was brought it with 1 month left on the warranty for a complete rebuild again because it was slipping. He gave me the parts list, I'm pretty sure there are numbers, so I will have to check what parts were used.

And bizzatch, I figured it was a pretty good deal since that is what complete rolling chassis' with body damage go for. It also has brand new bilstein shocks and struts all of the way around, along with nearly new optispark. I figured in a worst case scenario, I pick it up and sell it for a couple hundred more. But...I'm keeping it. I already feel attached to it.

Also, bizzatch, what do you think the chances are of something letting loose and taking out the heads on spray? As long as I don't over-rev it, it should be fine, correct? Anyway, what do you think it will run?
