I'd say 400+ HP. I would not call it a necessary modification with that list.

It would do nothing unless you port matched the intake also

No.

The stock intake manifold has 52mm holes. No porting necessary.

When i did the logging between both a 52 and 58 i gained around 15 at peak airflow on datamaster with the 58. That was even with a stock 52-54mm intake inlet. Give or take when your on the dyno your peak airflow is usually within 10hp for a rough indication. So even if you dont port your intake inlet id say you would still gain 5-10rwhp going with the 58 with or without the intake ported.

The stock 48mm throttle body will support over 500 N/A HP (motor).

Depends on what rpms you are taking it up to. and how well the head/cam combo flows.

i like to set the bar at 450 hp. If you are making 450 hp and still plan on trying for more a 52/58 is gonna be needed. so that's why I set it there.

I'm going to experiment this weekend at the track with a stocker and a 58mm. With my amazingly accurate butt dyno I can tell you on the street the 58 pulls harder down low and the stocker pulls harder up top.

Unless you are monitoring and adjusting your A/F ratio you prove nothing. I have been throwing this challenge out here for years now without any takers. And honestly, I am as curious as everyone else to know the true answer to the OP's original question.

Two things to keep in mind.

1. The 502/502 crate motor has a 48 mm TB.
2. There are a bunch of LT1 Super Stockers out there running way into the nines with a stock TB.

With my amazingly accurate butt dyno I can tell you on the street the 58 pulls harder down low and the stocker pulls harder up top.
The short times will tell the truth on that one (again, only if you are running at the same A/F ratio for both tests).

As posted i think after any h/c setup you would gain a good amount of power. However with a stockish setup i dont you gain as much. As i had posted earlier up in the setup i gained roughly 10rwhp going from a 52-58 with my setup in my sig below even with the stock 52mm intake inlet. So that being said a modded h/c setup sucking more air and fuel can only make more power with more coming in so its a no brainer as to you making power. Question is 5-10-15rwhp depending on the setup worth the 3-400 new? I found my 58 had alot more throttle responce and but its very sensitive and when at low throttle % it will jurk as its loading/unloading the driveline in my M6 which is VERY annoying.

I plan on a 52mm this winter, so I can easily run the two tuned-for tb sizes back to back.

At leastthag will get stock vs 52mm done the right way.

Did you make any tuning changes after adding the 58 mm tb? I've been wanting to upgrade to one from my stock 48mm, just wondering if the problem you describe at low rpm can be adjusted with tuning or is that just a common problem with a 58mm
