How to pull water pump drive unit complete?
Guys, I have my 383 up and running but have a oil leak at the front of the motor while it's running.
The water pump drive shaft was grooved where the timing cover seal rides on it and I'm suspecting the leak is there.
I am a ninja master at installing the seals and mounting the timing cover without hurting the WP drive seal(ask me how I know?!)
I know that there's a couple torx head screws holding the retainer on to the block, but I'm pretty sure the bearing was in the block TIGHT, almost seemed pressed in.
WITHOUT taking the intake manifold off and pounding it out from inside the block's intake valley how can I get it out so I can press in a new WP driveshaft?

If you remove the timing chain cover it's not even hard to get out. Just grab the shaft with a vice grip and yank. If it's really tight, screw a slide hammer right between the shaft and the outer race. It will come out. Try very hard not to get metal in the valley.
