No, you're being told that even with a 408, with your HP goals you will be spinning 8K+ rpms and will need to be prepared to spend what you need to on parts to accomplish that goal. Then you have to worry about the reliability of such a long stroke on an LT1 block...which won't be such a big deal on a 500hp street motor that only spins to 6500, but can be a huge issue on a 750hp 8,000 rpm monster.

FWIW Dave spent over 20k just on his SB2.2 engine, then you need another big chunk of change for the tranny, suspension, and rear to handle it. With lower spectrum cup heads and a nitrous cam he went 9's on motor though. Couldn't keep the drivetrain in one piece on the hit, and last I heard he went through a couple transmissions, and then just stored the car and moved on. I don't think it ever actually made it down the 1/4 on spray, but it would have ran somewhere in the 8's.

no.........you dont listen too well do you lol..........im saying the 4" crank will be unstable in that block at the rpm capability its going to have........with the rpm you will have the ability to turn becuase of the airflow I'd stick with the 3.75" and go with a 383.......the extra 13 cubes isn't worth the extra stroke slinging around in there IMO at 7500+rpm

My advice if you want to build this kind of power for a more reasonable price and more options on internals would to be look into going gen1 aftermaket block.(if longevity is part of your concern)

My advice would be to step up to the Gen IV LS series platform.

My advice is to follow the above advice. Cause after you build this engine, good chance it won't be perfect the first time out. And when something like this breaks, at breaks BIG. And after all this time saving and building, it would kinda suck to have $30k of LT1 laying on the asphault. All that just to say I had an LT1 that made 750hp at 8000rpm.
