I would get an aldl cable and one of the many apps for your pc then you can scan and learn to tune also.

Only $199? My newest scan tool was 4,000. I would do what was suggested above and use a laptop if you have one available.

Buy a cheap laptop for fifty bucks, it doesn't have to be fast just needs to be powered up and able to run a simple program. My cable was about 60 and the definition file to read the car was 30ish. So for under 150 you have your scan tool and the ability to reprogram your pcm when and if you wish to.

Now that sounds like a plan! I was figuring on a program to read codes and tune to be much higher than that.

Now that brings up my next question(s). Where's the best place to order a cable. And where to get the program?

Some parts stores scan cars for free also. You could also check ebay. There are usually some on there for dirt cheap.

It can be difficult at first but once you get everything sorted out and you know how to use the software it isn't that bad. I don't do much tuning besides simple things personally but if you want it more for scanning the car I think you will be ok.

I've done a little tuning with hand held units like diablosport. And a little datalogging in the process. Is this software going to be similar to that?

I agree! Buy a cheap laptop and a cable. There are free programs out there as well to retrieve codes, and there are some low budget options as well.

95's are OBD I with OBD II connectors. If you buy a scan tool make sure it works before you leave the store.

http://www.moates.net/aldu1-and-cabl....html?cPath=64 $80 for cable

http://www.andywhittaker.com/en-gb/ecu/freescan.aspx FREEscan - This will let you check trouble codes and datalog lots of parameters.

Although $100 datamaster is MUCH better that freescan.

http://www.tunercat.com/ This is to tune. Go to 'downloads', tuner 'add to cart' $70, and under 'ecm definition files' get a $EE definition file $20

Check craiglist and get any old decent laptop running windows with a usb.

In the future if you want to purchase an "aftermarket" tune, you won't have to mail out your pcm, you can do it all through email and load it in yourself. You'll be able to do easy stuff like tire changes, shift point changes, rev limiter and top speed limiter. I would pay someone to do the complicated stuff.
