Not that the stock lifters are perfect but IMO people waste huge amounts of cash "improving" things that work and then cheap out on the areas they really need to pay attention too.
You have any idea just how many of us are taking .600lift cams to 7000rpm on stock or $120 a set GM lifters? You want to get fancy there are the "Cadillac racing lifters" which I think are $220ish about HALF what those cost.
