how much hp is left?
I've been trying to get a dyno tune for awhile but all the local tuners are busy or not answering.. My schedule is about to get really busy with another semester of college around the corner (next week) and i might just have to drive the car with the mail order tune from madtuner for awhile until my schedule clears up.. maybe a month or so.
anyways my WB is reading an AFR of 10.9 slowly dropping off to 10.7 at WOT.. Im not dissapointed in the power at all, but would like to get rid of some cam surge occurring below 2500 rpm. Also my cruising AFR is 17-15..
How much power do you guys think im holding back with this tune?
and cam surge isn't bad for the motor is it?

I gained 3.5 corrected mph from fixing my very similar afr and pulling substantial timing from the madtune.
Cam surge shouldn't hurt anything but comfort.
You know, you could always ask one of us tuners to tweak your tune.

That afr seems really rich?
~Edit~ Still learning about tuning, so, forgive my seemingly stupid questions. I like to quadruple check my self.

Thanks for the offer lswho. My laptop is currently down so uploading a tune is out of the question for now. I'm not messing anything up being that rich I assume. Except maybe my mpg...

And a lot of power I'm willing to bet. I think I remember reading that around 12.5 afr is ideal for lt1s. Don't quote me on that tho, just some late night ramblings haha
~edit~ oh yea op, your car looks freaking awesome! No idea if I told you before.

I haven't done any AFR corrections at the track to find my ideal, but I leaned mine out from 11.7 commanded up to 12.6-13.2 (depending on rpm) actual and that seemed to help out a LOT. But of course eliminating 10 degrees of knock was a HUGE part of my gains.

Back when I used to tune, it'd be 100+ hp from a safe guess mail order tune to a on car dyno tune. Those were turbo cars though so, Id guess less than 50 with an n/a V8 (double guess, lol. About as good as your question is going to get answered).

can you describe the driveability of your car? Every time i drive mine now im not happy. The rpms never seem to level out at any point. I cant tell if its a bad tune or just cam surge, or hell maybe my valves arnt adjusted properly.
does your car have these issues? another part of the problem is the converter and going up hills for me. It wont upshift and it also wont hold a steady rpm.
are you experiencing similar issues? Obviously when my converter locks on the highway i get bad cam surge. I hope its just my tune being off or false knock.

1 whp gain in peak could also be a substantial gain in non peak numbers.
Know what I mean? Most people don't talk about non peak numbers, but that's where a lot of mods add the most power. The area under the curve.
