Default P/S Pump Bolt Hole Threads Stripped...input?

So the lower bolt for my Power Steering Pump decided it wanted to pull the threads out for some reason. Now I can get it to thread and get snug, but I can not torque it down. I can torque down the top bolt but it does no good if the lower wont. As a result, my P/S pump keeps working itself out and getting loose and causes me to throw my belt and to have a nasty squealing sound when I am driving.

BESIDES removing the accessory bracket and getting the hole heli-coiled, what else can I do to AT LEAST temporarily fix this until I can get a more permanent fix in order??

Also, what is bigger? an M8 bolt or the Standard "equivalent" of that size? I know one is slightly bigger than the other but not sure which one...

Doing the helicoil or thread insert is really the only good option. Metric is metric and standard is standard. There are no equivalents.

Heli coil is the best way as already mentioned and is very easy to do

I had the same thing happen to me. Ended up just replacing the whole bracket with a spare I got from a friend. I'll agree that the heli-coil is your best option.

You can get a whole accessory bracket for like $20. Just gotta find the deals.

I had the top one fail on me, just put a helicoil on both of them and I haven't had an issue since.

This happened to me half an hour away from the Tri-Power Nats last year - I spend my Saturday fixing the car (at a two brothers auto repair shop) - they 'let' me rent their tools and do the work myself.

Even using their worst quality stuff - it only took me two hours to fix it. If I can do it in that time, in those worst-case conditions, then there is no reason not to either replace your bracket or heli-coil the one you already own.

Good Luck!
