Default Edelbrock or Trick Flow?

I'm sure most of you have seen these kits on summit racing. But I've been out of the LT1 loop for quite sometime.

Edelbrock: $3011.95
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EDL-2019/

Trick Flow: $2499.95
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TFS-K304-430-400/

The Edelbrock kit includes that nice red LT4 style intake manifold. Is the intake worth the $500 extra? Running the trick flow on the stock manifold would hurt output much?

What do you all think? Which would you go with, or is there benefits to breaking these combos for other components? Cheaper better options?

The trickflow will be less of a waste of $$ than the edelbrock kit, then again you didn't mention your goals.

Those Trickflow 185cc heads would **** all over those Edelbrock 195cc heads. The Trickflow heads in that kit are the new 21 degree style and they flow very well for having a somewhat smallish port.

The edelbrock intake is crap too. Definitely send your heads to LE or AI and you will have a better result then either of those kits

I would buy the trickflow heads then send them the LE to be ported with your stock intake. Im very very happy with all 3 sets of le heads I have. As for the edelbrock intake, well it does have some good benifits but for the price its just not worth the 10 hp you might get from it over the stock unit.

A mid to low 12 sec street car is pretty much the goal. Im sure suspension mods will be needed for some of that. But drive-ability is a big part. Cruiser/bruiser if you will

Manifold.
I was browsing the site, and its heads and cam $1600 LE2 but I wonder if it includes the manifold work or if its another $200? Im sure the heads are fully assembled to work with the cam of choice right?

Wouldnt it be more cost effective to just send my stock heads to get worked?

The trickflow kit should get you those goals easily, and it's a pretty good deal considering it comes with pretty much everything you need. You can make significantly more power with something like an Ai setup, but if you just after a bump in power with decent driveability and reliability that trickflow kit should have no problem achieving your goals. And stick with the stock manifold, I made 430rwhp through one and the ports haven't been touched on it.

To put this in better prespective, the Edelcrap LT4 setup makes 406 at the flywheel.

Compare that to speed_demon24's results.

I run the same parts as him and have not dyno'd but mid 11s from a Caprice with AC, ABS, power seats and all says it is making some power.

sound like some good numbers... so that elliots port works sounds like a good deal for $1600 for LE2 heads and cam? Im sure it doesnt include the bolts and gaskets though... but that not a bad deal though right?

What is Ai?

Mid to low 12's could be achieved with just the hot cam plus the right bolt-ons.

really?

the thing is, im having issues with my 97 Z. Has an oil leak somewhere between the head and block on the driver side and its killin me to find out what the issue is.

So I was about to get some Replica C5 Z06 and tires for it and re upholster the interior but if my heads are jacked up, i thought id just buy new performance heads and hold off on the "restoration".

Currently the block is .40 over and has the Comp 304 cam (210/220, .500.510 on 114) which is pretty mild from what I hear. Has long tubes, cat less, under drive pulleys and a flowmaster which was done by the previous owner.

So i thought id 1.6 that cam for some more lift, 3.73 gears and tune it and call it a day. So Im on hold for now on it until i find out what that leak is.

LE is a Trick Flow dealer.I bought a set of TF 21 degree heads and had him port them.
I paid a little over 2,300 for heads and port work.
