Pacesetters are pretty popular nowadays, but if you're mechanically inclined the stainless steel eBay knock-offs are pretty hard to beat (research some of the issues with them).

Mine involved grinding the k-member a little bit, you'll have to slide the steering shaft over too. The sound is amazing and was worth it. I bought speed daddy headers, I don't think they're on ebay anymore.

Ohh and delete the EGR while you're at it, mine idled so much smoother without it.

If your car idled better after deleting the EGR, then your valve was bad.

I've had Hooker Longtubes on my '97 since 2003. They fit great, went in really easy and didn't have to beat or grind on anything to get them in. Ground clearance is pretty good too.

I am running pacesetters here with 3 inch y pipe. I like them and they fit well but I think plugs are going to be a pain in the *** no matter what you go with. I've gotten pretty good with mine but the first time or two is always fun on anything having to so with the lt1. I can get to all of mine pretty good except on the passenger side I always have fun getting to the third hole back. Other side is fairly easy

Have been using Hooker headers on mine for a while. Changing plugs is pretty easy to do with them. Just bought a used set of Kooks that i will be putting on.

Yeah... changing plugs with the Hookers is pretty easy. I do however have to get the number 6 plug from under the car. Still pretty easy to get to though. Not to mention that I have big hands too.

I think any long tube header would fit as long as you have good motor mounts.
