Seriously?

Find a 93-97 Manual or Auto X-Member and look at it. Pretty similiar at quick glance. And after researching it more thoroughly, I found this very part sold with 93-97 Auto X-Members.

Don't be a troll.

Transmission Tunnel Brace

Has 4 identical bolt holes to the Automatic Transmission X-Member for a 93-97 F-Body and Manual Transmission X-Member for that matter.

I'll work on getting you the part number, sir.

it's not a transmission brace... did you not read every other ****** post on here??...

+1 on replacing it with a tunnel mounted torque arm. mine doesn't make enough noise to bother me. i made mine with poly bushings though

g-load brace .... Transmission Tunnel Brace .... is the function of this particular piece of equipment not to keeep the Transmission/Driveshaft tunnel from collapsing/coming together? I looked quick at the picture (maybe a second or less). Flame me for it. jeeze.

That piece of punched steel would not prevent the tunnel from moving in or collapsing, the tunnel itself actually has ridges in it that would function better to do that. I could only imagine GM installed it to stiffen the chassis in that area for hard cornering to increase torsional stability and reduce flexing. I'll give them an "A" for effort, but it's still just a piece of punched steel though. SFCs or a cage would work better.

It's for neither if you really look at it..IMO the purpose of that piece is to keep the driveshaft up when a U-joint breaks. That piece of stamped metal with the way it's shaped isn't really that supportive if you look at it.

there was an entire page of people saying that it was just a tunnel brace and was not important to keep on the car. which was correct.

then you came on defending that it was a transmission brace.. (this brace is located BEHIND the transmission) and that he NEEDED it. which was completely incorrect.

just trying to keep things clear.

i would agree with the_merv, most likely the only thing it would REALLY be good for is catching the driveshaft if it breaks. i have a pile of these things laying around because they dont clear most aftermarket exhausts. i've never heard of anyone noticing a difference without it.

all for re-naming it the "driveshaft safety catcher brace" say I!

What are people using for driveshaft loops if they have 4" exhaust? Also its a Denny's Nitrous Ready driveshaft also, not sure how the size is on it.

Maybe information can come from this circus.

The GM parts catalog calls it:

Reinforcement, floor panel at tunnel panel (to underbody brackets)

While I think the idea of reinforcing the floorboard from one side to the other is a great idea, the GM implementation of it with that flimsy little panel was poor. If it was a real structural steel bar from the factory, everybody would think it was sorely needed.

I sure feel better having the aftermarket bar installed-along with three-point sub frame connectors. Everybody should do this:

It does a fine job. Try and stretch the stock piece and get back to us.
