Default HIGH RES Failure

My car is cutting out at part throttle, but not at WOT, sometimes throws SES. I check the codes, it said high res failure. Does this mean the opti is bad or possibly bad connection. The opti is MSD with maybe 200 miles on it, never driven in the rain, with LTCC setup. Thanks.

My coil connector had a short in it, and it would give me a hi res failure code along with the low res. It sounds like your car is doing the same thing mine was. Ill tell you that is scary just after a new opti, but the moral of the story is it very well could be a bad connection and you need to diagnose the problem before blaming the opti. How did the opti harness look? If you need a new one, efi connections has a quality peice, that's where I got mine and was very satisfied with it.

it also had a electronic spark timing circuit grounded code 42. The miss seems intermittent miss, if the opti is bad it would be consistent?

Not necessarily.

When my msd crapped out the car would just die at random times. No rhyme or reason. Just whenever it wanted to. Id coast to the side, wait about 2 minutes and she would fire back up like nothing happened.

Check the cable from the Opti. Look inside the connector for corrosion, it's a common problem.
