Default 3rd gen allround monster

i have a 89 firebird that i am in the process of making a street/road race monster that will be almost a daily driven vehical.

i have sfc, stut and sway bars done and koni yellows already in shipping process, goodyear f1 asymmetric 2 tires, lt1 and t56 tranny in garage ready to be swapped in but i didnt want to start that yet untill i know what turbo system or custom i wanna go with. i plan on having a smaller quick spooling turbo.

please any suggestions will be greatly needed and used!! first time with the muscle car world wanna do it right i also own a 05 sti stage 2 12.1 1/4mile but making that thing a beast was very simple new age tech and 4 wheel drive makes life simple...

seems like a good start, is the lt1 stock? you might get some more answers on the FI section.

Why turbo? A heads/cam lt1 will outrun the sti easy. And be considerably cheaper.

that isnt true at all i have a 6 spd car with turbo and it is great much more control if i dont want boost i dont have to if i want it i have it manual is always better...i am really just asking what size turbo would be good for an
lt1 thats all...not a 78mm nothing that big dont want a turbo that spools for days what is the smallest mm turbo that would work on an v8 lt1 motor??

and i am almost 1000% sure my sti will not beat my lt1 with heads and cam done there is almost no way
my sti is running 12.1 1.98 60ft which is shitty i should be in the high 11's if i get the lauch down and dont bog out
and is running about 167 top speed at the moment
and have only spent about 6-7 grand which includes tires guages and stereo speakers cause with mods cant hear radio for ****

and most importantly if i wanted to make a right turn at 60 mph i could with the sti. the firebird is not nearlly as balanced as the sti tech goes alot futher than just muscle it is the way of the world unless u only go in str8 lines

The ablility to go fast isnt about the str8 line HP/trq its about the decisions you make in the .01 seconds on what move to make next... "i wouldnt call it rocket science i would call it science while driving a rocket"

A turbo lets you turn right? Your posts don't make much sense all of a sudden. A rally car will generally out handle an f-body. But a heads/cam f-body or a turbo f-body will obliterate your STi in a straight line. YOU BROUGHT UP THE 1/4 mile. YOU DID.

never said 12 anything is beast if i am not mistaken i said shitty 60'
and a cam and heads is not a game changer when on the street that fact of all wheel drive alone off sets all of that and also have luanch control which is simalr to a stall but electronicallly controlled and much more accurate
i have raced z06's many times over
light to light they have no chance to catch me...
0-110-120 is usually around when they catch up quickly

dude dont waste your time on a thirdgen, they are a pos. stick with the STI, those are cutting edge technology and much cheaper to go fast with.

i am out done with the sti it is my all round weather car since here in maryland there is often snow and i have to be at work no matter what the weather calls for....

as for the third gen i want sumthing rear wheel drive with the ttops for summer to sport around for the ladies (stupid). the sti they call it cute untill they go for a ride....the firebird doesnt really have the cute effect lol

but really just wanna sample the muscle car life see what the hype is about but i still want to maintain the turbo and all around performance car. turbo also helps awsome gas millage as long as u can stay away from the boost side.

that is from a local's wrx, it was posted up earlier today, oddly enough. he's popped several engines in that car, and this is the latest one.

i would never spend money on a wrx when u could spend 4 or 5 more grand and get a damn near built proof motor....i did blow my bottom end and cracked the turbo housing when i went thro a puddle of water (puddle that would drown a toddler) drunk and my passenger side wheel well plastic wasnt there and got my intake filter soaked and kept driving and in turn sucked water into the block and cracked a piston and cracked the turbo housing from the water and oil dont mix theory....that set me back about 4500 to get rebuilt but that was about 2 years ago been all great since then also have ppg gears which are supposed to be unbreakable even with launch control and it has held up so far to my abusive behavior...

Nothings bullet proof, and as for turbo size a t67 with a .96ar spools pretty fast for me.
