Default Mystery Bracket and question about TB plate

Here is a picture of two brackets i am trying to ID and determine where they go. Im sure someone knows but im lost.

Also, i was looking to get one of those aluminum plates for the TB but it appears that Mallory Billet Aluminum is no longer in business. Does anyone know if there are any other companies that do such work or make comparable plates?

Thanks

Those are for your alternator, one goes on the the single piece with the curve in it goes on the header bolt(on the front of the passengers side) the other one goes to one of the bolt/studs on the intake manifold.

Ok now question 2. Im going with stage 8 locking header bolts so are these brackets essential? There wont be any stud to mount them on.

The brackets are for holding your alterntaor still so yes you need them.

Well the alternator is already bolted in two spots on the accesory bracket. I know im not the only one who uses stage 8 bolts, and i dont see them making studs. How do others use the bolts and also keep these brackets.

Great example of under planning/overengineering by GM.

The bottom brace is completely unnecessary. Just makes it more of a pain in the *** to change out the #2 plug and route passenger plug wires.

I agree that the lower bracket is a pain and a lot of people leave it off. Then, there are a few with broken accessory brackets. Overkill, maybe. Insurance, surely. Judgement call, definitely.

I haven't used either of those brackets for 10 years now. No problems with cracking, throwing belts, etc.

I replaced the plastic plate on the red car with this one:

http://tpis.com/parts/view/11

You can also get them on EBay for under $20.00 in a myriad of designs. I have the TPIS 58mm TB (has the same top plate) on my green car and I didn't have a feeling one way or the other on looks but the price was good.

Mine cracked the accessory bracket by DD'ing without the bracing. I still ran it with the cracked bracket for a while, but snagged another one from a part-out and will be making some sort of bracket setup to run on my new motor.

I assumed it would be fine with the bolts, but I didn't count on the whole accessory bracket itself being so brittle.

When the car had 20K miles the head were replaced and the bottom brace was taken off for good. No issues since.

Perhaps i can run one of the two brackets. Ive just weighed the header bolts against it and would rather not have to worry about header bolts backing out. So that bracket will not be going back in.

Every lt1 I've owned both of those braces were taken off during a header install and never seen again.
One of them does supply some support, but I've never thrown a belt, and my car had the **** ran out of them at the track

@DVS LT1: Thanks for the recommendation, talked to Dave and he is going to hook me up!

Another question to fire at you guys regarding these brackets. What is the appropriate stud to use in the intake on the passengers side, 2 back from the front. When I try to install the bracket, the shaft on the stud is too short and accepts only the bracket but no nut. Specifically, I need the dimensions. Here is a picture for clarification.

Look at your other studs. One of them is longer at the top for the alt bracket. All the others are shorter. You probably used it somewhere else.

UPDATE:

Thanks @DVS LT1 for the plate recommendation. Dave did a custom plate up for me and came out great!

I am still having trouble finding the longer stud. I went back and double checked my intake to see if I put one in the wrong place. The studs are all the same length and I do not see one that is longer. Does anyone know what the dimensions are on the longer stud? I referenced GM FSM and the GM Parts Catalog for my car and it seems to indicate that all studs are the same length. What gives?
