Help me make this car badass ...
A friend of mine is selling an LT1 vette of his (I think it is a 95) ... and he said he would sell it to me cheap. I was thinking of purchasing it and making it my summer project.
Unfortunately, I am not a big fan of that body style, so I would definately get a nice body kit/raised hood/chrome C5 rims/etc for it ... and the interior would also need to be ripped apart and redone (not a big fan of that either).
I have a few questions about this, since I am not an LT1 expert by any means. I really wish it was a newer body style with an LS1, since I am far more familar with those engines ... but what can I do.
This is what I was thinking. Possibly get a 383 stroker kit for it ... and/or maybe a supercharger or turbo setup. I would want it to be in at least the 600+rwhp range ... and have about 15 grand to do it with. The few questions I have are this.
a) What is the best/most reliable way to get to that hp level (or higher).
b) What is the C4 tranny/rear like? I know it's completely different from the f-bods ... what kind of power could they handle?
c) Which setup would you guys recommend? Namebrands, types, etc.
d) Is there anyone who sells an aftermarket dashboard assembly for this car? Maybe something that looks like it wasn't made 40 years ago (what was GM thinking???)
Thanks.

LT1 'Vettes are definitely nice vehicles. It really depends on how high you want the horsepower. For power to match that juiced T/A of yours, you'll definitely want to stroke her to a 383 or a 396. For just a bolt-on car though, do a bigger cam like a Comp 306 (230/244) with 1.6 rockers, some CNC'd heads or just ported stockers... and maybe a 100 shot of juice... that'd put you in pretty good territory.
For forced induction, ATI and Vortech make awesome blower setups. It's far easier to supercharge an LT1 because of the mounting setups of the blowers. Even though it may not seem like it, there's much more space for the pulley, giving you the chance to do a 12-rib setup instead of going straight from 8-rib to a COGS setup. Turbo setups are great, but what vehicle isn't a turbo awesome on?
For strokers, Nick D'Agostino definitely has some awesome 396 LT1 setups. Like I said though, it really depends on how much money you want to put into it.
Good luck bro, feel free to contact me on AIM if you have any questions.
Honestly I haven't been able to put much research into it, which is why I asked you guys.
I have settled on the probable combination of a 383/396 stroker w/ forged internals plus a single turbo setup. That seems like the best way to go.
I will contact you on AIM sometime.
I was wondering if you guys knew of any.
Also, I dont know if you guys know of any companies who make aftermarket dashes or gauge setups for the C4's.
