First time to the track.
I've had my car for two years and it's been down most of that time. It's finally running good so I decided to head down to the local 8th mile. This was my first time on a drag strip so i'm sure there is more in it.
CC503 cam, crappy edlebrock headers / exhaust (leaking) (catted), 245 street tires, M6
First run,
2.17 60', 9.05 @ 80.5
Fastest run
2.16 60', 9.00 @ 80.9
I'm hooked lol. I'm gonna get rid of the catback this week and go to a bullet dumped before the axle and fix the leaky y pipe. I think the clutch might be slipping some on up-shifts, could be my imagination though...

I would consider a cut out befor dumping and a bullet. The bullet will be loud, droany and stinky. If its a street car a simple 30-40$ manual cutout will help, and you can cap it and drive home at a reasonable tone lol.
2.1 60 out of an m6 with street tires, not bad at all. Good luck to you.

My friend was just at our local 1/8th with his auto car running 8.5's at 78-79mph with a 1.90 60'. Based on your mph, you should be running ET's very similar to his. It's hard to be real consistent with an M6 car.

The problem I have with a cut out is that the cat is bolted in rights off the Y so I don't have and room for it before the cat.

My car stock ran 9.0 you should be in the low 8 with that cam. I would try 18psi in the tires and feather the clutch a little. Im sure wheel hope and being your first time did not help any.

DR's will shave some serious time off your E.T's. I'd look for 1.9's maybe high 1.8's 60' and over 1/2 second reduction in the 1/8 mile. I'd say 8.48 at 83 mph.

My car ran 9.0 stock at sea level in florida on a very humid 100 degree day with full weight and balled street tires. @79mph average.60 foot was almost always a 1.88-90. Automatic car as well. Tl

Even though it was the first time ,I feel like it should have trapped a little higher. There is an exhaust leak close to an 02, I know that can throw it off.
I don't know what the DA was. But it was a cool night here in nashville, 60ish. Were not far above sea level.

You certainly have a lot left in that car. The exhaust leak doesn't help and neither does the low rpm shift. It takes practice.
I have a few bolt-ons and my car has run a 8.13 @ 84 and weighs 400# more. The 503 should put you in the 12.0x range, a 7.7 to 7.8 1/8. It just takes time to get there.

It's tuned. But i had to put a cat in there to pass smog, it's tuned for no cat. idk how much of a difference it makes but it cant help. If you mean not letting off the gas pedal, then no, not powershifting. Shifts are fast though.
