5/16 12 pt bolt heads were a piece of cake to put in. I sold my breslins for a good chunk of change when they were out of production.

I always see fancy header bolts as a gimmick though. They are nice to look at but I just use those cheap Mr. Gasket header bolts you can find hanging on the wall in the parts store. Wrap a little pipe thread tape on them and they won't back out on their own. Since learning about that I haven't had any loose header bolts. I also found a double sided 3/8"-7/16" wrench, closed ends from craftsman that seems thinner than their usual wrenches, that is what I use on the bolts, no problems.

I don't have any engine bling either, so I can see the allure of these sexy bolts if you are into the extreme clean look. I daily drive my car, cc503 with poly engine/trans mounts, I give it ample opportunity to try to shake the bolts out.

I did the same as speedemon.. Brewpubs never backed out but were 3/8ths. Pain in the a$$ to put in. I now have arp 5/16th bolts SO MUCH EASIER TO PUT IN. Only takes me 3 mins to check them with a tiny 5/16th box wrench. I tightened them a couple of times now they don't move.

Me too. I've used the same ARP's for the last 10 years and have never had problems with them backing out.

A little trick my dad tought me with the header gaskets. I always bought and blew those high dollar ones. I even tried a set of copper header gaskets once. After he finally broke down and showed me what he was doing I was in awe.

He picked up a set of the cheapest header gaskets from Western Auto (ya, it was that long ago.) Brough them home and soaked them in water in one of my moms cake pans. He yanked my crappy ones off and once these had swelled up and soaked up a bunch of the water he installed them, thightened them down, and started it up. The heat from the engine and the header sealed the gaskets. I never had another issue with them again. Not a single leak, not a bolt backing out, nothing. This is the ONLY way I do headers now.
