Question Replacing the Motor Mounts

I wanted to get some opinions on whether to buy the whole motor assembly new or used. I have a 97 SS thats making a rumble at low RPMs and I think thats the problem. After searching around I found the whole assembly for less than 60$ from an junker LT1. It looks like its in pretty good condition too. I just want this problem fixed and for the least $.

Are you asking about replacing the entire motor or just the mounts?

Sounds like its a mount question but how it's stated can sound very confusing.

Used parts are used parts. I alway replace wearable parts with new. I did the same for motor mount on my old LT1.

If you do poly on motor, make sure the trans mount corresponds as having 2 different meterials can lead to vibration issues.

Had that happen to me on the LS1. On some old mustangs I used to own the original owner had a soild mount on the trans, and rubber upfront and cracked the trans case. An extreme example but just something to think about.

Just replace the rubber inserts with polyurethane replacements. I have prothane brand mounts on my car and I believe they were about 50 bucks.

He said I want to replace the whole motor assembly. That's where he got me.... I run gm replacement motor mounts on my street car. Drilling rivits and all that is not worth the time to me.

It doesn't take that much more time to install. They can be a little annoying, but if you just stay calm and be patient then the outcome is worth it "especially if you have long tube headers".

I have a set of clam shells you could buy and drill them out so they would be ready for poly ones if that is the route you decide to go.

I love my poly motor and trans mounts....one of the best mods for the $$. I do remember the mechanic who put mine on bitching about it being a PITA, the results are worth it.

energy suspension poly mounts from autozone are what i used. They were the cheapest and if they didnt have them they could get them the quickest out of anyone.

thats honestly the only thing autozone has been good for LOL

I actually want to go back to a stock trans mount. But also run poly engine mounts. With the trans being stock "rubber", vibrations are a minimum. but of course have to reloc the TA mount.

I noticed a little more vibrating going from factory mounts to poly. Miniscule really
