Default head gasket for boost

what is a good head gasket to run on a boosted car.

~8.5:1 compression, eventually will see 12psi.

gm, fel-pro, cometic, etc...

Any MLS gasket, I personally use Cometic on all of my engines regardless.

The reason, is their at almost any parts store, have a proven record of being a good gasket, are cheap and conform to blocks and heads that may or may not be perfectly flat... Those are all things I look for in any part.

Thanks for the responses, always nice to have real world experience

Another question, arp head bolts. Do you guys torque them to spec, or add a couple pounds for boosted apps?

Fel Pro 1074, torque to specs. I ran these last year on 19psi on pump gas. I ended up hurting the motor with bad gas, but the head gaskets were just fine.

damn i wanna run those but i dont want my compression to be that high

i guess if it turns out my le2 heads are fucked and i have to throw my stockers back on it'll be fine, or i'll just turn down the boost a tad

Any reason you choose the 1074 over the Cometic? I am needing to make the same decision eventually.

just cause they're easy to get and read a lot of good reviews on them. its my DD so i didn't have time to wait around to get a set of cometics shipped to me.

also after calculating everything i'll be at 9.4:1 compression with these. in my original post i meant to say 9:1, idk where i got 8.5 from... haha

i decided i wanted a little bit more compression, my fuel system cant handle "full boost" yet so i believe 9.4 will be a better compression ratio for the mean time
