Default Weird Header Question....

So does anyone know of any lightweight headers or what headers are the lightest? I'm am hooked on weight loss now, and when you go on a website to buy headers (or anything really for that matter) they hardly ever list the damn weight of the product. When I buy headers, I want the lightest ones I can buy. EVERYTHING I buy for my car from now on, is going to be the lightest option available as long as quality doesnt suffer too much. Everything down to the shift ****. I want a stupid light car, and every pound adds up.

Certainly an interesting question, but a set of headers isn't an area where you want super thin metal. I'd say any uncoated 1 3/4" long tube would suffice.

Oh no, you wouldn't want any super thin headers, but maybe some made out of a lighter metal than steel. Aluminum probably wouldnt be a good idea. Haha. But maybe chromoly or titanium. But I doubt anyone makes anything like that for an Fbody.

I can't possibly imagine how expensive a set of titanium headers would cost, just to save a few pounds. Hilarious. Not to mention how difficult it would be to even make them.

I think you're a bit too obsessed. There are far better ways to save weight.

You'll save a lot more weight worrying about whats after the headers then the headers themselves.

Custom ORY with single bullet dumped will be a ton lighter then a full exhaust or duals dumped before the axle, but also loud as hell.

Ti headers would be trick as hell, but crazy expensive. Its over a grand for a Ti header on a crotch rocket, and thats just a single header on a tiny 4cyl with small primaries. Imagine what a pair of them for a big V8 would cost! .

BTW Chromoly isn't any lighter then mild "plain" steel, its just stronger so they can use thinner pieces for the same strength - thats how they save weight. On something like a header that sees extreme amounts of localized heat, you don't want thin tubing either way.

And to justify the thought of titanium headers, I got the idea from my buddy with an rx8. He has FULL titanium exhaust. Idk how much it cost him, but he is loaded. He can afford it. Haha.

Ok RamAir95TA. He doesn't because you know him and you know what he has. I'll take pictures and find out where he got it from. Wanna make a bet on this. If front of everyone? I'm glad you know everything. But you don't.

See thats the solution everyone gives me. Not saying it isnt true. It obviously is. You can make a 6,000 pound truck run 10's with the right amount of power. BUT for my goals, the lighter my car, the better. The power will come as well, but I have to have as light a car as possible. Handling is my goal. I want a very nimble car. I almost bought an S2000 instead of this car, but I had to stay true to my Fbody and American roots. I just couldnt see myself in a 4 banger no matter how fast or agile. Unless its a Lotus. Haha.

Damn... Thats hella light. Wow. Do you have a link. I imagine its bare bones, no interior or anything. I cant get that extreme right now on my car as its my daily for a few more months. But I can sure as hell by one that is already light. Haha. As long as its LT powered. Or maybe SBC....

I bet a set of Titanium headers would cost well over 3 grand. Just run some Zoomy headers out of the hood.
