A max effort 427 could definitely utilize 2" primaries IMO.
Lemons will do it, but it is NOT cheap. I talked to him about doing this very thing for me and I still have the quote somewhere. I think it was around 1200 for uncoated, mild steel headers...
Here is some info he sent me on them at the time:

Yea i found lemons also but thought the prices seemed a little high.
I think a nice set of stepped 1 7/8 will work for this motor. Im not trying to squeeze every last HP out of it. just want to make sure its able to breathe.
Anyone run kooks stepped headers?
How's the fitment?

The kooks will most likely fit perfect. However, I tend to like a full 1 7/8 header with the stahl flange as the headers bolts are much easier to get to than the standard sbc bolt pattern. The hedmans will need small frame mods if you are running heads with raised exhaust ports (they will hit the floor board on the driver's side). Also, the heater box will need to be removed or modified in order to get them to fit. As quick95lt1 said, #1 tube will need to be modified unless you are running a madman manual rack.

I decided to sell my LPP's. Don't know if you would be interested or not, but thought I would throw that out there.

Go to Barnes&Noble and Look for the book "Performance Automotive Engine Math" by john Baechtel. Its a great book to educate people for looking to make max effort builds. Not only for max effort, but to also give the tools to make educated choices on these things.
P.S. the book is a S-A design book.... you can get it online also.. btw.

Okay i will check that book out.
I really don't want to have to modify the headers if i can avoid it.
Anyone know if the LPP or KOOKS stepped headers will fit without modification?
But if i do end up needing to modify the headers who can do that?
any exhaust shop or will it need some special tools?
