IMHO you best bet is to buy the Pacesetter Y and have some cats welded on to it..Here is a link pay attention to the pics this is an emissions compliant LT1 something simular you want to do..look at the Y pipe..also if your looking for good cats try thunderbolt..

Like I said before, you'll have to move your fuel lines slightly.

Thanks for posting up my build thread Thats a perfect example of how you want to position the cats in the pacesetter ory. Ive had zero problems with emissions using the generic fullsize magnaflow hi-flo's.

Its all dependant upon if you have to pass the sniffer test. If you have visual inspection then you could run it at the end of the y at the merge. If you need to pass the sniffer then you have to run them the way I have in the pics. If the cats don't get hot enough they won't function. The closer they are to the collectors the better they will perform. You can take your chances with the bullet style cats but they don't perform as well as a fullsize cat. So if you have a decent size cam in there your going to want to make as easy as possible to get it to pass. I run my cutout in the right tailpipe slot in my borla catback.

Ok thanks. Is there still a big difference in sound with cutout after cats?

Mine isnt crazy loud because its not a dump under the car it still exits out the rear tail pipe just doesnt go through the muffler. I personally love the way it sounds and at the flick of a switch i can have it stealthy or a nice grunt all without having a dump under the car giving off drone and the other issues that go with having one there.

So with it dumped under the car I should hear noticeable louder rumble even through cats over my GmmG?

GMMG with no cats is very loud. You will get rasp from the 2-3k range. Sounds amazing at WOT, but IMO it sounds better overall with a catted y. I threw my off road y on over the summer this year and I much prefer the catted y I had on it. It will still be plenty loud with cats and all of the rasp will be gone. I used two Thunderbolt mini cats in my y pipe. Never had a problem with visual inspection.

I agree with making your own by putting the cats in a ORY. Kooks is the only one I know of and for the price you can make a couple

As already noted the GMMG is very loud even with cats. I would try it without the cutout first and if its still not up to par with how you want it to be then go nuts and put the cutout in.
